Kitchen tile is a great way to add visual interest to any design. That’s why today I’m sharing some of my favorite kitchen tile ideas for floors, backsplashes, and walls to give you a little inspiration for your own home. Let’s take a look.

Kitchen Tile Floors

More and more, I see clients opting for colorful, large-scale pattern tiles for their kitchen floors. A trend that first started in bathrooms and laundry rooms, it’s now becoming a favorite for expressive homeowners who want a fun and personal kitchen design. This tile floor will be a bold statement, so keep the rest of the design relatively simple so it doesn’t become too busy.

Kitchen Tile Backsplashes

Perhaps the first thing people think of when they hear kitchen tile, is there’s absolutely no shortage of ideas for kitchen tile backsplashes. However, today I want to resurrect the idea of a tile mosaic over the stove. Often found in more traditional kitchens一especially those with a Tuscan influence一I think a plain white subway tile offers the perfect opportunity to modernize this design element. Lay the tile in a herringbone pattern for the mosaic while the rest of the backsplash is laid horizontally for a beautiful focal point.

Kitchen Tile Walls

Additionally, one of the hottest current design trends is using kitchen tile for walls, and it goes hand-in-hand with homeowners choosing to forego traditional upper kitchen cabinets in favor of open shelving. With all that wall exposed, the natural choice is to expand the tile backsplash into a showstopping tile wall. But, if you want to keep your upper cabinets, you can still incorporate this design feature by extending your tile backsplash into whatever remaining wall space is available.
