Life is messy. Whether it’s a spilled glass of wine, a trail of muddy paw prints after a rainy walk, or the kids deciding to grab a popsicle without drying off from the pool, mishaps are bound to happen. The good news? Waterproof wood flooring is here to make life’s messiest moments a little more manageable (and look great while doing it!).

The Shortcomings of Traditional Hardwood Floors

Traditional hardwood floors are beautiful but high maintenance. The biggest drawback is their vulnerability to moisture and water damage. Prolonged exposure can lead to warping, staining, and structural damage. They can also be scratched by furniture, pet nails, or even the errant stone stuck to the bottom of your boot. In short, wooden flooring looks amazing but does not do a great job of handling everyday wear and tear.

Prevent Water Damage with Waterproof Wood Flooring

Thankfully, waterproof wood flooring has revolutionized the way we think about wooden flooring. Its 100% waterproof technology allows homeowners to enjoy the elegance of wood without having to worry about water damage from spills or humidity. Not only does it help combat messes, but it also allows for installation in areas typically considered unsuitable for traditional hardwood floors like the bathroom.

Types of Waterproof Wood Flooring

There are several different options to choose from:

  1. Engineered Wood Flooring is a layer of real wood veneer over a waterproof core. It offers the most authentic look of wooden flooring because it is wood! Just with some added protection.
  2. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) Flooring is made from synthetic materials that mimic the appearance of wood. Constructed with several different layers, LVP is known for its superior durability. This material will easily handle anything you can think of throwing at it.
  3. Rigid Core Flooring is a subset of LVP. The core can be a wood plastic composite (WPC) or stone plastic composite (SPC) which makes the flooring feel more like hardwood when you walk on it.
